Life is full of stories! Pop-in for a read at our pop-up library, an interactive space that brings our community together through the love of books. Have fun & get creative with activities and weekend programming. Support your local library and enter our in-mall contest for a chance to win books to start your own collection. Join us on Sunday, January 26 at the 22nd annual Family Literacy Day Event with fun for all ages.

Stop by for a reading break! Choose a book and enjoy a relaxing read or share the joy of a good story with your child. Check out the other activities taking place in the space while you’re there. The Pop-Up Library will be up until Saturday, January 25 to make room to celebrate Family Literacy Day on Sunday, January 26.

Show your love of books and have fun at the same time. Decorate your own bookmark to take home or share your love of storytelling with fill-in the blanks story sheets. Plus, Weekend DIY drop-in workshops for all ages will be available from 11 am to 4 pm January 18, 19 and 25. Projects include: wooden book box Jan. 18; decorated notebook Jan. 19; wooden bookmark Jan. 25. Limit 1 project per person, while quantities last. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Decorate to Donate
Winners Court

All the books in our library will be donated to Waterloo Public Library at the end of the event. Want to show your support? It’s easy. Decorate one of the book covers and place it on an empty space on one of the bookcases in the pop-up library. For every decorated cover, we’ll donate $1 to the Waterloo Public Library up to $1,000.

Donate a Book

Want to share your love of reading and support your local library? Visit the Indigo store in-mall, buy a book to donate and receive a 20% discount on the book being donated. You’ll get a bookmark to place inside the book cover to indicate which local library you want it to be donated to (Waterloo Public Library, Kitchener Public Library or Region of Waterloo Library).

Join us at this all-ages event to celebrate National Family Literacy Day hosted by non-profit organizations from across Waterloo Region. This interactive event raises awareness around the importance of reading and participating in literacy activities as a family.

Activities include:

Information booths and activities - 10 am to 4 pm

Live musical entertainment by Erick Traplin at 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm & 2 pm and the French Children’s Choir at 3 pm.

Stop, Drop & Read Storytime in English at 10:45 am, 11:45 am, 12:45pm; in French at 1:45pm.
